After the success of our previous meetup, it was time again last week to come together and further strengthen the Kubernetes community in the eastern part of the country. Once again, our gathering was all about sharing knowledge. We opened our doors to anyone interested in Kubernetes!

We were incredibly pleased with the beautiful location we managed to secure, right in the vibrant center of Almelo! To kick off the evening, we were ready to warmly welcome everyone with a bag of fries, some tasty snacks, and a refreshing drink.

Our CTO Sven Mollinga and Kubernetes Engineer Aaron Kuilman kicked off the evening with an interesting presentation on setting up your own certificate authority in combination with Kafka for securely sending and receiving logs. The presentation was followed by a live demo. Fortunately, the demo gods were on our side and we were able to see the concepts that had just been discussed in action.

After the first presentation, it was time for a short break. Over even more delicious snacks and drinks, great and especially technical conversations emerged.

The second presentation was given by guest speakers Bart Rijnders and Mats Willemsen from Ahold. They gave us a very informative presentation about the Kubernetes as a Service (KaaS) platform at Ahold Delhaize, which is based on Azure.

After the presentations, there was plenty of opportunity to chat and network. It was wonderful to see people from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience come together and share one common passion: Kubernetes. As a memento of a successful evening full of inspiration and connection, everyone received a unique Shock Media ‘patch your sh*t’ shirt upon departure.
