Last Friday it was time again: the Shock Media LAN party! The Shock staff association is always up for organizing a party. A LAN party is undoubtedly the ultimate celebration for IT professionals. And it certainly was a party! As always, there were three competitions in which participants competed for those coveted challenge trophies!
The racing competition was the first challenge of the evening. The chosen battle game was Trackmania, where the virtual engines roared to life and everyone was determined to set the fastest time. After several elimination rounds, the best racers battled for first place. In the end, none other than Aaron took the honor and the trophy. His unbeatable speed on the virtual track left the competition in the dust.
The second competition was the shooter competition, and what fits better than Counter-Strike! Group 1 and group 2 kicked off this exciting round, followed by groups 3 and 4. The best shooters from these groups faced off during the final battle. Our sharpshooter Selwyn proved to be the undisputed champion!
The third competition was the ‘fun’ competition, the rotating challenge where anything is possible! This year, we brought back a golden oldie: Sjoelen! The wooden pucks were flying around and various tactics were used. Some opted for gently sliding with a subtle touch, while others went for power, launching the pucks onto the board. The winner with an unbeatable score of 142 points was Jaap-Jan!
After the competitions and the award ceremony, there was still plenty of time left (read: until deep into the night) for all kinds of games. Think classics like Unreal Tournament, Asetto Corsa, and even RollerCoaster Tycoon! All of this was, of course, supported by ample energy drinks, snacks, and a delicious bag of fries!
In short, the Shock Media LAN party was once again a great success! We are already looking forward to the next edition of this competitive event, where the current winners will have to defend their titles.
