Our team consists of passionate specialists including developers, engineers, security experts, and Cloud architects. These top professionals not only make sure everything works, it is their mission to improve it every single day.
What makes Shock Media unique?
Working at Shock Media means working in an environment with a high level of technical depth. We work with many large clients who face complex challenges. Companies immediately get a technical specialist on the phone who has extensive knowledge and can dive straight into the systems to solve the problem.
Virtual teams: where flexibility and specialization come together
At Shock Media, in addition to the traditional departments such as Management, HR, Development, Engineering, Sales, and Security, we also work with five virtual teams.
Working in a virtual team takes place alongside regular duties. The idea behind this is that everyone can contribute and specialize in what he or she enjoys most. As someone grows in their role, he or she receives more project time that is spent within a virtual team. This way, everyone continues to develop further.
Virtual Team Cloud: They focus on Ansible, Public and Private clouds, Terraform, and automating our services.
Virtual Team Kubernetes: Focuses on our Managed App Platform, Managed Kubernetes, and manages our own and all customer-specific clusters.
Virtual Team Security & Tooling: They focus on the security of our platform and work with tools such as Wazuh. Wazuh is our SIEM and Security Platform. Within all web requests across our servers, they look for patterns that appear suspicious or indicate an attack. They mainly focus on recognizing these patterns and arranging blocks.
Virtual Team Infra: This team is responsible for all our hardware. This includes data center management, updating various network layers, installing new racks, and configuring hardware.
Virtual Team Optimization & Standards: The newest team within our virtual teams and therefore still in the development phase. The team will primarily focus on optimizing customer environments, but also on adding improvements to internal standards or documentation. The team works on smart solutions and improvements, for example: how can we make a WordPress environment even faster and more stable with the right tools and settings?
Room to grow
If a colleague really enjoys working with Ansible, they can join Virtual Team Cloud. If the colleague wants to learn something else, they can switch to another team. Together, we look at what fits the person and what fits Shock.
With our virtual teams, we help the team to develop further. Another advantage is that everything is transparent to other teams, which ensures smooth collaboration between all teams. For example, a Kubernetes engineer can build something with Ansible, and the Cloud team supports and checks where needed.
Each team has its own backlog and way of working. For every team, there is a limit of a maximum of 2 projects simultaneously. We do this deliberately to ensure that projects first deliver value or are completed. Only then do we start something new. This prevents us from staying too long in projects, something we see frequently in other organizations.
