Last Friday, our sporty colleagues from Shock Media braved the heat during the annual Company Beach Volleyball Tournament in the heart of Almelo. With groovy beats in the background, ice-cold drinks during the breaks, and enthusiastic cheers from colleagues on the sidelines, the atmosphere was fantastic from the very start!
The groups
We were placed in a group with six companies. During the warm-up, we could already see there was some tough competition: precise serves, sharp smashes, and highly motivated teams. It immediately became clear that nobody was planning to give away any points easily. Fortunately, we didn’t let it faze us. In fact, it gave us extra energy to go full throttle and show what we were made of.
The matches
The first match was still a bit of a warm-up, and unfortunately, we lost by five points. But not to worry: the atmosphere stayed just as good, and our stars really got into their stride afterward. After the first defeat, we turned things around: the team bounced back and fired off four consecutive victories!
Quarterfinal: thrilling until the end!
Fully warmed up and with confidence at its peak, we entered the quarterfinals. SMASH! BLOCK! Another dive in the sand! Unfortunately, it just wasn’t quite enough to reach the semifinals.
Finishing in style
Despite being knocked out, the day wasn’t over yet. After the final whistle, it was time for a friendly chat, epic stories about ‘almost-winning’ points, and of course, plenty of drinks.
