Last Friday was the day. After weeks of (mental) preparation, our best players put on the red Shock Media shirt to participate in the Companies Beach Volleyball Tournament in Almelo! Despite the heat, team Shock fought for victory at Het Sportpark. Read below to find out how it went.

The Preparation

The shirts were ironed, there was at least one training session, and after a shared meal, the team was properly fueled up. Our team was ready! That day, a heat record was broken, but the Shock Media team was ready to break another one: they were determined to win at the Beach Volleyball Tournament. Supported by friends and family, the team arrived at Het Sportpark.

The Warm-up

First things first, some practice hits and warming up the muscles. Because let’s be honest: beach volleyball is quite different from the games of table tennis we play during our breaks. Thanks to the heat, it didn’t take long for our players to be warmed up. Ready for the first match!

The First Round

We started in the group stage; our group consisted of 4 teams. It was exciting right from the start! We lost our first match by just 1 point. But that didn’t spoil the fun. Nor did it dampen the talent! We fired off one smash after another. Unfortunately, just one too few.

Participation is more important than winning

We can be brief about the rest of the competition. Unfortunately, it didn’t get much better. The other teams had a bit more volleyball talent than we did. But that won’t stop us from participating again next year! Until then, we’ll focus on our true talent: being Managed Hosting Specialists.
